2013 Construction Projects

Boys Road Ultra Violet Water Treatment System at Boys Road Well Supply

Completion of the UV water treatment system at the South End Well water supply to be operational in June 2013.

Beverly Street Dike

Construction of a flood control dike between Lakes Road and the Trans Canada Highway.

Meadow Park Sewer

Construction of a municipal sewer system on Meadow Park Road/Place and Roome Road.

Queen Street Construction and Paving

Replacement of the watermain on Queen Street, rerouting of the storm drain between Joan Avenue and Charlotte Street, and re-paving.

Chemainus River Bridge Replacement

Removal of the old wood truss bridge and replacement with a new steel and concrete bridge between June 11 and October 11, 2013.  The new bridge will have 2 lanes as well as walkway/bike paths on both sides.

Lakes Road Overlay and Watermain Twinning (Beverly Street to Tzouhalem Road)

Re-paving this section of Lakes Road to the northern boundary of the Petro Canada gas station (which is located in the City of Duncan).  This work also includes twinning the watermain with a new 450mm ductile iron watermain.

Maple Bay Road Overlay

Re-paving a 750 metre section of Maple Bay Road.

Drinkwater Road Sidewalk and Re-paving (Lane Road to 400 metres west)

Construction of a sidewalk on the south side of Drinkwater Road, widening road to add bike lanes and a paved walkway on the north side, installation of storm drain, and re-paving.

Beverly Street Sidewalk, Widening and Re-paving (Lakes Road to York Road)

Re-construction of Beverly Street, including new sidewalk and boulevard on north side, bike lanes, storm drain replacement, sewermain replacement, watermain twinning, re-paving and landscaping.

Tzouhalem Road @ Lakes Road Intersection

Construction of a right turn lane on Tzouhalem Road fronting the Petro Canada gas station including sidewalk construction.

Kingsview Road @ Donnay Drive Roundabout

Construction of a roundabout at this intersection including pedestrian crosswalks.

Chemainus Road Re-construction and Roundabout (River Road to Victoria Street)

Construction of a roundabout at River Road as well as the upgrade of Chemainus Road between River Road and Victoria Street to include a centre landscaped median complete with lighting all as per the Chemainus Revitalization Plan.

Willow Street Sidewalk

Construction of sidewalk on the east side of Willow Street between Cypress Street and Laurel Street.

Garner Street Sidewalk

Construction of sidewalk along the east side of Garner Street between Chemainus Elementary School and Cook Street.

Norcross Road East Sidewalk

Construction of sidewalk and re-paving between the Trans Canada Highway and Drinkwater Road.

Pine Street and Daniel Street Sidewalks

Construction of sidewalk on Pine Street and Daniel Street to complete sections adjacent to the Chemainus Village Market.
